Spruced up holiday drinks

‘Tis the season for delicious drinks we don’t drink any other time of year! Although this prego can’t partake in these (perhaps I’ll make a virgin version for myself this year 😁), you can make these at home and have an extra for me! If you’re trying to enjoy the holidays but also aren’t looking to totally derail by drinking all of your calories, try these recipes for delicious spruced up holiday drinks that are JUST as delicious but with fewer sugar and calories and all vegan!

Irish Coffee

1.5 oz whiskey + 8 oz coffee + 1 tbsp coconut sugar + 1 tbsp whipped coconut cream (whip a can of coconut cream (sweetened with stevia if you want) until it is light and fluffy)= 147 calories, 9 g sugar 

Hot Toddy

a cup of black tea, a half-shot of brandy, a tablespoon of maple syrup and a squeeze of lemon (toss in a few fresh cranberries for a festive look and something tasty to eat when they’ve soaked up the good stuff!)= 113 calories, 5 g sugar

Eggnog

Save yourself up to 600 calories (yes you read that right!) with this version!  Blend all ingredients together. This recipes makes about 1 drink.

  • 1 3/4 cup unsweetened almond or coconut milk
  • 2 frozen bananas (or you can use 1/2 cup silken tofu for a little less sugar, but it will definitely be less sweet)
  • 1/2 teaspoon each cinnamon and nutmeg
  • 1/4 teaspoon clove
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 2 tablespoons bourbon (or rum if preferred)
  • 1 tablespoon pure maple syrup, optional
